The Kithungururu Farmers’ Cooperative Society is located near Kathingari in Embu, Kenya and has 1,200 active coffee farmers. The cooperative is well known for paying their farmers well above government requirements. In Kenya, co-ops are required by law to pay a minimum of 80% of the final coffee proceeds to their farmers. Kithungururu exceeds that by paying their members 95%. The proof to that is the exceptional quality of the cup.
